Within School Leader (WSL) Role at Wainuioru School

Our Within School Leader (WSL) plays a key role in supporting and enhancing teaching and learning practices across our kura. This leadership position is part of our involvement with the Whakaoriori Kaahui Ako, focusing on collaborative professional development and aligning with our school’s strategic goals.

The WSL works to empower our kaiako, ensuring they have access to the best practices and tools to support student success. By fostering pride in our local identity and culture through the development of the Wairarapatanga Curriculum, the WSL strengthens connections between our learners, their community, and their heritage.

Key responsibilities of the WSL include:

Leading and promoting Kaahui Ako initiatives within our school.
Developing and delivering professional learning opportunities tailored to our staff’s needs.
Undertaking and guiding Teaching as Inquiry (TAI) projects to improve outcomes for learners.
Gathering and analyzing student achievement data to inform teaching practices.
Facilitating school-wide collaboration and sharing progress with the Kaahui Ako team.
Through this role, our WSL drives professional growth and ensures Wainuioru School continues to deliver high-quality education, enabling our learners to thrive on their unique learning journey.
